Can I use these strips just to measure my total cholesterol?

Yes, that is entirely possible! These strips are "3-in-1" tests. From the same sample, the device will display your total cholesterol but will also give you your HDL and triglycerides as a bonus. It is much more complete for monitoring your arterial health.

I have a reader from another brand that looks like the Mission, will your tests work with it?

Unfortunately not. Each brand (Mission, Lysun, MultiCareIn) uses its own optical technology and its own calibration chip. These strips are designed exclusively for the Mission lipid analyzer. Use with another device would skew the results or simply not work.

Do I need to be fasting for the result to be accurate?

Yes, it is essential. As with a laboratory blood draw, we advise performing the test in the morning after a 12-hour fast. This ensures that the fats from your last meal do not skew your triglyceride and cholesterol levels.

If I get an alarming reading, should I call emergency services?

Do not panic. A self-test is an alert tool. If the result is unusual, wash your hands thoroughly (fat residue on the skin can skew the measurement), check the expiry date and run the test again.
